E Is for Eagle Handprint Craft

E is for eagle! Help your toddler learn about the letter E by making a fun eagle handprint craft.

Materials

• Brown, white, orange, and black nontoxic paint
• Blank paper
• Paper plate or scrap cardboard
• Cotton ball
• Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

1. Pour some brown paint onto the cardboard.
2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s right hand.
3. Press the brown handprint onto the center left of the paper with the fingers open and the thumb down.
4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
5. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of brown paint on your child’s left hand.
6. Press the brown handprint onto the center right of the paper with the fingers open and the thumb down. The palm of the second handprint should slightly overlap the palm of the first.
7. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
8. Pour some white paint onto the cardboard.
9. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of white paint on your child’s finger.
10. Press the white fingerprint above the two brown handprints at the point at which the palms meet.
11. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
12. Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
13. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s fingertip.
14. Press one orange fingertip print on the side of the white fingerprint and an orange fingertip print at the end of each brown thumbprint. Reapply the paint as needed.
15. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
16. Pour some black paint onto the cardboard.
17. Use a paintbrush to dot a black eye in the center top of the white fingerprint.
18. Use a paintbrush to paint “E is for eagle” in brown on the paper.
