P Is for Peacock Handprint-Footprint Craft

P is for peacock! Help your toddler learn about the letter P by making a fun peacock footprint and handprint craft.

Materials

  • Green, yellow, blue, and orange nontoxic paint
  • Blank paper
  • Paper plate or scrap cardboard
  • Cotton ball
  • Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Pour some green paint onto the cardboard.
  2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of green paint on your child’s hand.
  3. Press three green handprints in a semi-circle on the paper. Reapply the paint as needed.
  4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
  5. Pour some yellow paint onto the cardboard.
  6. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of yellow paint on your child’s finger.
  7. Press yellow fingerprints in rows between the fingers of the green handprints.
  8. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  9. Pour some blue paint onto the cardboard.
  10. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of blue paint on your child’s foot.
  11. Press the blue footprint with the toes pointing down in the center of the green handprints.
  12. Wash the paint off your child’s foot.
  13. Pour some orange paint onto the cardboard.
  14. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of orange paint on your child’s finger.
  15. Press one orange fingerprint in the center of the heel of the blue footprint and two orange fingerprints under the toes of the blue footprint.
  16. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
  17. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of yellow paint on your child’s finger.
  18. Press two yellow fingerprints above the one orange fingerprint.
  19. Use a paintbrush to paint “P is for peacock” in orange on the paper.
