U Is for Unicorn Handprint Craft

U is for unicorn! Help your toddler learn about the letter U by making a fun unicorn handprint craft.

Materials

1. Pink and purple nontoxic paint
2. Blank paper
3. Paper plate or scrap cardboard
4. Cotton ball
5. Cotton swab or paintbrush

Instructions

1. Pour some pink paint onto the cardboard.
2. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of pink paint on your child’s hand.
3. Press the handprint with the fingers open and down onto the paper.
4. Wash the paint off your child’s hand.
5. Pour some purple paint onto the cardboard.
6. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of purple paint on your child’s finger.
7. Press one purple fingerprint above the thumb the handprint and a second purple fingerprint extending from the palm of the handprint above the pinky.
8. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
9. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of purple paint on your child’s fingertip.
10. Press a purple fingertip print on the end of each of the four pink fingers.
11. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
12. Use a cotton ball to spread a thin layer of pink paint on your child’s fingertip.
13. Press a pink fingertip print above the purple fingerprint above the pink thumbprint.
14. Wash the paint off your child’s finger.
15. Use a paintbrush to paint a purple eye in the center of the pink thumbprint.
16. Use a paintbrush to paint “U is for unicorn” in purple on the paper.
